My #adhd super power is randomly making small but quite important objects vanish completely, never to be seen again.

In other news, if anyone has any idea where my comb might be, please let me know. Last remembered in the dish rack by the sink because it needed a wash, and I have a vague recollection of taking it out to put back and... maybe putting it on a flat surface? But it's not on any of them. It's not under or behind any of them.

Help!

Neurodivergent people have always been there (we just weren't 'looking' before)

theneuroscienceofeverydaylife.

The idea that the neurodiversity is a 'recent development' and hasn't been shaping all of human society forever is as wrong as it is unhelpful

The Neuroscience of Everyday Life · Neurodivergent people have always been there (we just weren't 'looking' before)By Dean Burnett

In an era where I'm sure my fellow #autistic and #ADHD people are feeling more overwhelmed than usual, here's everything I've worked out about making your home/ workplace a calmer, more relaxing space...

by re-organising/ tidying/ cleaning everything that silently screams at you in a mass of exhausting, distracting, relentless visual sensory overload.

the thing is, before I take my #ADHD meds, I actually do want to get things done. often quite desperately! I just dread the both the tremendous effort it will take to do them and my inevitable failure to do at least half of what I wanted to do. it's like all the doors in my head to the parts of my brain that DO THINGS weigh a ton and pushing them open is exhausting.

and then I take my meds and suddenly all the doors are normal doors again and I know I'll be fine.

me, half an hour later: okay! so first things first let's get the big binder of recipes and see what I'm cooking next week. and then I can pop the coffee on for the light of my life, grab a shower, and head to the post office--

me:

me: yep, #ADHD meds have kicked in

me, rolling glumly about on the sofa: oh gooood I've got so much to do today and I don't wanna do any of it, why am I busy when I am UNEMPLOYED

me:

me: oh wait hang on

me looking at days of the week med case, where Friday is still full of meds: okay never mind I'll be fine in half an hour

New #introduction

I am a digital #artist working in #krita, making work with a somewhat automatic process, featuring strange ethereal beings, demons, and wizards. I am inspired by #weird #SciFi and #fantasy art of the 1970s and 80s, perhaps not unrelated to my love of #ProgRock and #HeavyMetal and #psychedelic music

I boost art that I enjoy, and I hope you will too :))

Neurodivergent Fedifriends, I have a question for you.

What is this elusive 80% that NTs are talking about when they explain to me that I shouldn't aim for perfection.

Apparently, when they have a job to do, they measure (?) what would be perfect, then they measure 80% of it and they stop working there? 🤯

Do you know how one does that? NTs explanations are not helpful so I thought I would ask my #ADHD #AuDHD and #ActuallyAutistic peeps for guidance.

Can you do that trick of magic and if so, could you please explain to me how?

Let's say have a translation to do. What's an non-burnout inducing 80% of a perfect translation?

Retoots welcome!

Are you a mental health provider or coach who works with neurodivergent clients who:

(1) struggle with their careers, and/or

(2) have self-limiting beliefs about their leadership potential?

If so, I would love to get you an advance reader copy of my upcoming book, since your clients are one of my most important reader segments.

And, I’ll add you to my referral and potential collaborator list! 🫶🏼🙌🏼

I have once again been nominated for a National Diversity Award in the Catoegory of Positive Role Model- Disability
